About

Growing up in South Africa I played a lot of sport and did cross country horseback riding, sustaining a number of injuries which resulted in chronic headaches and back pain. My parents had the sense to take me to the local Chiropractor to have everything ‘put back into place’. The instant relief I got made me realise that this is how I wanted to help people.

Soon after qualifying from Chiropractic College in Durban, my wife and I moved over to the UK for a six-month holiday. My Scottish blood drew us up to Scotland and our holiday extended to nine glorious years, me working as a chiropractor and Nicola raising our three boys. We returned back to South Africa for a number of years, but have now settled back in Aberdeen.

It was in Aberdeen where my passion for the art of Chiropractic really developed and I studied courses in Applied Kinesiology, nutrition, Chiropractic paediatrics and Exercise rehabilitation.

We all have the potential to be healthy. I feel that Chiropractic is one of the natural ways to get us on the journey to good health.

Take control over your wellbeing and ‘Get Back To Health’

What is a Chiropractor?

Chiropractic is a regulated primary healthcare profession. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles), as well as the effects these disorders can have on the nervous system and general health.

They specialise in neck and back pain, but when they assess patients, they take their entire physical, emotional and social wellbeing into account. Chiropractors use a range of techniques to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility, including hands-on manipulation of the spine. As well as manual treatment, chiropractors are able to offer a package of care which includes advice on self-help, therapeutic exercises and lifestyle changes.

Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including ice, heat, ultrasound, exercise and acupuncture as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.

Although chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck pain, which they do very well, patients also consult chiropractors regarding other, related conditions.
